Michael Bierut
Lecture by Michael Bierut, Pentagram, New York
Sponsored by the Graphic Design Department
of the University of the Arts and the Philadelphia chapter
of the American Institute of Graphic Arts, 1992
In researching Michael’s design, large initial caps appeared frequently in his work. The P was set in script to emphasize how Pentagram was an eclectic design studio with no particular “style.” The integration of the words Michael and Beirut created many individual design relationships that played with the limits of legibility.
